SCOTT HALL DESERVES RESPECT I have some questions to ask WCW. To ask WCW president Ric Flair. When does Scott Hall get a fair shake? When does Scott Hall get a title shot? When does Scott Hall get the recognition he deserves? As is pretty well-documented, especially on the internet, Hall had some debilitating personal problems for a while. Some were even evident on WCW TV. But now, I'm happy to say, Scott's OK. I talk with him pretty frequently, I hang with him at the pay-per-views, and I know he's shed his personal demons. As he told me, I'm going to get back at my critics the best way I know -- by being the best guy in WCW. He may be that right now. So where are the title shots? Flair said on Nitro that Hall wasnt going to get a match for the U.S. title despite winning a No. 1 contenders match against Chris Benoit. Flair gave a shot to Roddy Piper instead. Piper hasn't even been around for months. True, Piper beat Bret Hart for the title on Nitro this week. But so what? That still wasn't fair to Hall. By the way, who was the fat guy running around ringside during the Hart-Piper bout? Mad TV? Yeah, I was mad he was on TV, too. Getting back to Scott Hall, I hold several truths about him to be self-evident. He is the undisputed king of the ladder match. In his bouts against Bill Goldberg and Bam Bam Bigelow, Hall proved once again what he had proven at his previous place of employment -- nobody does it better on the ladder. He would have beat Goldberg at Souled Out had pro-Goldberg forces -- i.e., WCW -- not screwed with the rules. The winner should have been whoever got the taser from above the ring first, not who used it first. That's how ladder matches have always been won. WCW changed the rules to put Hall on turf that was a little less familiar, so he lost. But he still gave a glorious performance full of daring, skill and cunning. He is the best big man in the history of wrestling. True, people dont think of Hall as a big man, maybe because he's built like a normal guy and wrestles like a normal guy. But he's six-and-a-half feet tall and he can do anything in a wrestling ring, whether its delivering scintillating offense or bouncing around the ring like a rubber ball. No other guy the size of Scott Hall delivers action like Scott Hall. Not too many in wrestling can entertain with a microphone the way Scott Hall does. And really, isn't entertainment what its all about? So, WCW, it's time you gave Scott Hall his due. And internet geeks, it's about time you gave Scott Hall his due, too. When Scott was having his problems, you couldn't cover it enough. You used your trashy sort of pseudo-journalism to blow everything Hall did out of proportion, to make him look foolish, to make fun of him. You didn't present both sides of the story. You presented only the seamy side, the side that made Scott look bad. Well, now Scott's OK. Now Scott is wrestling his butt off. Now Scott is back near the top of the WCW food chain. How come we never read anything about that on the independent internet web pages? How come Scott's positive side isnt mentioned even a little bit? How come you beat his problems to death, but you havent written about his recovery at all? That's why I'm pro wrestling's only real journalist, and you internet stooges are just jabronies. I cover both sides of the story. You geeks just criticize and lambaste, probably so you can feel better about your own drab, dreary, little lives. Be fair. Scott Hall's a good guy. When I left WCW for a while, he and Kevin Nash constantly lobbied for the company to bring me back. I'll never forget that. Scott has a real sense of loyalty and friendship thats hard to find in the wrestling business. Scott Hall deserves respect. From WCW. From the internet community. From everyone. Give it to him
